I’m so sorry…

The words…  I’m so sorry…   about what happened in Paris seem so inadequate for the deed.  But those words and some tears are all I can offer up at this time.

Yes, sorrow is not much solace to the families of the victims, but it is what I have to offer, as well.
The terrorists are thieves, robbing people of their lives, their health, their loved ones, their sense of security.
    Nobody can restore that.
How do you fight a state with no borders, with no head of state, whose citizens have no passports to identify them?
We need a serious presidential candidate. This can not be about tax cuts. The world is a serious place, not a circus who needs a clown, either.
Did Russia’s involvement in Syria help to instigate this?
Prayers for Paris. Peace on Earth…some day.

It also sounds as if the same type of ghost app used in the school securing scandal may have been used to hide communications between these horrible people.

    French President François Hollande.

A very sobering event for all of Europe. Again the world changes.
The question is , What is the response?
It has long been a discussion about terrorist groups and Democracies
How do you keep a free and open society in the face of a small ruthless violent group.. With the easy access to arms and explosives this is a problem that needs to be addressed.

The ability to process (near instantaneously separating wheat from the chafe) communications in any and every form by the NSA and its parallel agencies is absolutely essential in protecting us and other threatened peoples. This does not involve creating and maintaining dossiers on every person within our borders.

Went to the Women’s basketball game yesterday evening in Columbia. It was the season opener that pitted South Carolina against The Ohio State. The Buckeyes lost 88-80 in a very physical, wonderfully hard-fought game in front of more than 17,000 thrilled, involved attendees.

I have four season tickets and hopefully none will go to waste.

As long as you have huge numbers of uneducated, unskilled, unemployed young men prey to fanatics, you will have terrorism. Guns and bombs are the symptoms not the cause.

Donald Trump said Saturday that the terrorist attacks in Paris “would’ve been a much different situation” if the city had looser gun laws.

“When you look at Paris — you know the toughest gun laws in the world, Paris — nobody had guns but the bad guys. Nobody had guns. Nobody,” Trump said at a rally here. “They were just shooting them one by one and then they (security forces) broke in and had a big shootout and ultimately killed the terrorists.”

“You can say what you want, but if they had guns, if our people had guns, if they were allowed to carry –” Trump said, pausing as the crowd erupted into raucous applause, “– it would’ve been a much, much different situation.”

That was a quote after the previous attacks in 2014. Trump at least had enough shame left to tweet condolences this time around. Of course having the French diplomat call you a vulture probably had some impact.

altho’ he did hold for a minute of silence and an earlier tweet of condolence, he still brandished hate and fear reiterating some of what he said at the earlier terrorist attack in paris.
    from http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/trump-paris-wouldve-been-different-situation-if-victims-had-guns-20151114
Speaking at a campaign event in Beaumont, Texas, Trump said it would be “insane” for the United States to allow Syrian refugees into the country after the tragedy — a notion shared by a number of Trump’s fellow Republican presidential hopefuls, including Ben Carson.

counter that with a tweet quoted in https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/11/14/how-muslims-around-the-world-condemned-the-paris-attacks/?hpid=hp_hp-top-table-high_wb-muslims-1234pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory where “Others pointed out the lack of logic in blaming refugees, Muslims broadly, or other victims of terror.”

“To people blaming refugees for attacks in Paris tonight. Do you not realise these are the people the refugees are trying to run away from..?”

tony, you’ll be happy to hear
    from http://www.politicususa.com/2015/11/15/polls-show-hillary-clinton-won-debate-long-shot.html
A Public Policy Polling survey of Democratic primary voters nationally revealed, “Viewers overwhelmingly think she won the debate, and particularly trust her over the rest of the Democratic field when it comes to issues of national security.”
    [….]
-67% of voters think Clinton won the debate, to 20% for Bernie Sanders and 7% for Martin O’Malley. On a related note 63% of viewers said the debate gave them a more positive opinion of Clinton, compared to 41% who said it gave them a more positive opinion of Sanders, and 37% who said it gave them a more positive opinion of O’Malley.

The debate changed focus at the last minute due to the Paris attacks, and thus it focused heavily on national security and foreign policy. The former Secretary of State shone for much of the debate, as her answers left the other candidates in the dust in terms of depth of knowledge and expertise. Clinton is the candidate debate watchers trust the most on national security, with 75% saying they have the most trust in Clinton.

Seventeen percent trusted Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) the most, and 5% trusted former Gov. Martin O’Malley the most.

“I think you can talk about Islamists who clearly are also jihadists, but I think it’s not particularly helpful [when you try] to make the case that Sen. [Bernie] Sanders was just making that I agree with — that we’ve got to reach out to Muslim countries,” the former secretary of state said. “We’ve got to have them be part of our coalition.”

imo she needed to put a period (take a long breath after) “but I think it’s not particularly helpful” before making a point of agreeing with Bernie…. needed to emphasize the dem vs goper difference.
