5 On Friday – Farewell September

5-year-birthday-cake

Our friend Travis of Trav’s Thoughts invented the five on Friday meme. To join in, simply sign in on his site and share your five music choices for the week.

This is the last Friday in September and the last tribute to 1964 which was indeed a very good year with the birth of my baby girl. This week is simply five of the songs I liked best from that year that I haven’t posted before.

Long before they got around to Julia Roberts

Still love the freeway sign in LA Story playing this one:

Before Cher got around to it for Mermaids

Shortly after Lanisa arrived her dad and I went to see Roger Miller in a night club performance (they still did that back then), so you get a 1964 double play.

Today’s bonus. More than 30 years later, I was in Washington DC watching the preview of a new musical based on Huckleberry Finn written by Roger Miller that went on to win the seven Tony Awards on Broadway including one for the score. Here you have the beautiful – River In The Rain
