5 On Friday – Under The Influence

5 On Friday is the meme created by Travis of Trav’s Thoughts. To join in, simply visit his site, sign in and contribute your five music selections for the week.

This week started with Cinco de Mayo which is the perfect opportunity to inject a little latin influence into the sound system.

This week in 1940 Jimmy Dorsey released one of my favorite songs – Perfidia, here sung by Linda Ronstadt

There is nothing quite like a song in Spanish to make the heart beat faster while turning up the thermostadt, here they do it even in the lyrics with “palpitar” under the heat of the sun –

To Turn the heat even higher: Julio Iglesias say “Enjoy Life” with Gozar La Vida

Placido Domingo sings of the sadness of losing a beautiful woman with La Malaguena Salerosa

And we end on a quiet note with Nina Mouskouri with La Paloma
