5 On Friday – Broadway Bound

Just in case anyone hasn’t noticed, I’m in a mood for musicals and Christmas is taking way too long to get here this year. In the meantime, a few of my favorite less well known songs from Broadway.

Merrily We Roll Along – Not A Day Goes By (No one does angst as well as Sondheim)

Into The Woods – Agony (The Princes Less than Charming moaning about wanting what they can’t have.)

Kismet – And This Is My Beloved (Borodin wrote some darn good melodies and  Robert Wright and George Forrest stole them in an entertaining fashion).

Little Me – A Real Live Girl (Sid Caesar in multiple parts but here sung by Mr. Mellow)

Sweeney Todd – A Little Priest (Fine Dining for the murderously inclined)

  1. I’ll have to come back later during the weekend Jamie, for a proper listen. But just had to say how much I love your Les Miz header!

What a great set.I will admitt to haveing a crush on bernadette Peters way back when

  3. Travis says:

You’ll always get my attention when you feature Bernie and Angie. I think Bernadette Peters is one of the all time great voices on Broadway, and Angela Landsbury is one of the all time great actors.

  4. Definitely enjoyed the princes, and Sweeney Todd. Actually, the Mario Lanza piece was also wonderful. Guess he didn’t become a megastar for nothing.
